Life

Lyrics

1) You ’n Me

High on a plane

To ride the waves away

Going down to Colorado

I’m wide awake, high on the clouds

A rising wave of clouds

Somebody asked, “Have you found it yet?”

As I drink for free

But I believe that-

And I’ve seen it in my dreams

I will love you ‘n me

But in the story where you are

You will lie, you will hurt

When you’re alone, there you are

“It’s alright.” you like to say

But, in your sundered eyes is a weight

I don’t hear a sound

The lightest wave of sound

I don’t see another way to let easy down

We’re right over now

Baby, we don’t mess around

You’re everywhere

Your clouds have whisked away

Your summer’s out

But I believe that-

And I’ve seen it in my dreams

I will love you ‘n me

But in the story where you are

You will lie, you will hurt

When you’re alone, there you are

I can see you with night-vision on

Do you feel strange?

Do you feel somewhat strange

As you play the pipe

And you play for no one?

The world is spinning

And I’ve seen it in my dreams

In the end I’ll run to you

In the narrow light, narrow light

I’m... like brain with pale balloon

You’re weightless

And lights hand, as you understand,

Is infinite

But it soon will be coming

It soon will be coming.

2) Bomb Days

With arrows on the way

We really don’t agree

They sent them from the hills up high

And when they land

They really don’t descend

And if you’ve none to hide, don’t worry

We won’t disturb you

We’re not out to find you

Then, watching from the porch swing

The bomb soothes and blinds you

Watching from the porch swing

There goes the world

By in an instant

Time blaming us

Is time hardly wasted

You get up

And look through the light

And see god, and it’s all over now

Oh, and he said:

“How you feeling?

Were you bored?”

“I’ve had my fun. Don’t fear.

And shed a tear.

I’ve walked around,

Took the Boston trains,

And drove down to Florida.

I’ve heard the storms come rolling down

And we’d hide away under the pier…”

…And watching from the bay

We really aren’t afraid

We step out in the pouring rain

And then you smile

Cause you’ve been around a while

But you’ve yet seen the sky so beauteous

We walk to the quarry

We’re not in a hurry

Then, overhead the sky rings

And back to the moment

“Were you bored?”

“I’ve had my fun. Don’t fear.

And shed a tear.

I’ve walked around

Blacked out

Free, with no direction in my mind.

I’ve heard the storms come rolling down

And we’d hide away under the pier.”

There goes the world

By in an instant

Time blaming us is time hardly wasted

“Were you bored?”

“I’ve had my fun, don’t fear.

And shed a tear.

I’ve heard the storms come rolling down

An we’d hide away under the pier”

I can feel it all

I feel the way of time for you

Baby, run

And I’d like for you to run in

Into the eye

3) Only Might

Sometimes I think I’m a soldier

Sometimes I think I’m a king

Sometimes I think I’m a sailor

But when the ocean calls

I’m miles away

Sometimes I think I’m lost

Sometimes I think I’ll be

Found by whispering

Sometimes I wonder if you know

How one feels another;

Our headlights on the same highway

Any day, I know that we’ll feel it coming

Darling, the sun is growing old

And it won’t last

But we have time on our side

So we lie awake, taking it in

The gravity of-

The gravity of…

The gravity of the crawling of thunder

But long gone the light will be

And I know

The drone and its light will meet at the end

She said, “Will it though?”

And I said, “It only might.”

Sometimes I think I’m a wanderer

Who’s been alone, looking for gold

I spent it on silver-ish statues

And diamond eyes to give to them

Sometimes I think I’m a-rising

My friend, we’re all trying to grow wiser

But in the irony, the more we know,

The smaller we feel

Or as big as gods,

Or live machines

Who are crazy after all,

And wrong as they’ll be

Any day, I know that we’ll find the comfort

The air in my hands is growing old

And it won’t last

But we have time on our side

So we lie awake, taking it in

The gravity of-

The gravity of…

The gravity of the crawling of thunder

But long gone the light will be

And I know that when all is right

It’ll somewhere align

She said, “Will it though?”

And I said, “It only might.”

4) My Fantasy (The King’s Last Stand)

Tell me, kings of the lonely world

Is it even worth it?

Tell me, kids,

Whose only world is a bed of flames-

Down here in the speaker! -
What’s happening now?
And they say
“It's happening now,

But o’er there, you’ve resounding faith

In a strange dimension

That you don’t know”

Then they said

“Turn around,

But don’t ever feel you have to.

You’re in my fantasy anyway.”

There are things that make them smile
That no one approves at all
Now and then they take one, cause,
Oo, cause they might as well

‘Til they’re all alone and they’re fast asleep

If you want to know what it's like
To say hello to a stranger
Say goodbye to a friend
If you want to know

What happens after you go
This is it.
You are living proof

Oh, it's happening now
In a wave
It's happening now
And it may feel amazing now

(I’m a sound!)

But when most rise to go

And feel the fire

They turn around

But don’t ever feel you have to

You’re in my fantasy anyway

You’re in my fantasy anyway

And we could grow

I'll turn the tower to silver slopes
How the king will fall
I saw it in his eyes
Like a fool on the ropes
Then he turned with a smile,
Said:

"You can’t blame me
If you all made a mistake.
But I know why: it'll feel great.
The time will move and it will rain
And sometimes it'll feel great,
But you're gonna wish

That you live and let live-

You’re gonna wish that you live and let live

‘Til you’re all alone and you’re fast asleep.”

5) Come On Over

When your world comes crashing down

Would you like to spend one last dance with me?

Would you like to ease the weight?

Do we have to go?

Even if I leave...

I'm coming back for more

To fuel the fire

I can't see it anyway

We can dance lonely night away

But only if I can be there 'wards

In your mind

How long? Tell me, who'll decide?

And if the air will fly back against

To a coroner who's to be named

How do you feel tonight?

Hello, you

How do you feel tonight?

Don't look so tired

I'm coming back for more

To fuel the fire

I can't see it anyway

We can dance lonely night away

But only if I can be there 'wards

In your mind

How long? Tell me, who'll decide?

And if the air will fly back against

Here lies the time to feel right

Darling, give me one more call

I need your voice

I can't hear you anymore

We will spend no more time away

See the bright lights - an instant first

Now we're satellites

Before I was just a fool who flies

Can you come on over soon?

Can you come on over soon

And I'll be there

How do you feel tonight?

Hello, you, how do you feel tonight?

8) Come With Me

byoo byooo byoo

7) Far Away

Show me a different place

I could bring you too

We’ll laugh a while

And tell me,

Have you walked beside the hill?

It makes the rain feel cold again

And you’ll feel alive

Here I stand

As the clouds recede

And for a moment, time was just a feeling

Here I stand

There’s nothing I can see

But on the horizon, far away from here

Where tears are drawn

Through the black smoke

Was a lifetime

And somehow, you’ve been here before

But nothing feels the same

This used to be my dream

And I will run slow

Can you hear me?

I don’t know who you are

But I know your face

And I’ve seen you here before

Here I stand

As the clouds recede

And for a moment, time was just a feeling

Here I stand

There’s nothing I can see

But on the horizon, far away from here

Where tears are drawn

Through the black smoke

Was a lifetime

Hallowed eyes

A light of jewels and broken lies

Hypnotized the life

And the queen will stand alone

For all that she can see

Is a dream

Standing here, a time has grown between

A sigh in the wind, but life will go on

Head to the west, my friend

And you may find the light

Don’t hide from pain

We’ll meet again

I see the wandering eyes

Drawn into the wind

And as they watch, the fear grows

But I have seen a light break

On the horizon

Where the queen stands alone

And it’s far beyond the mind

What’s inside your mind?

I see your fear, it’s in your eyes

And the poor man begins

Into the unknown

Well I’ve drifted too, time and again

And I feel like I could fly

Call like the sea

And far in the trees

A rise on the hill

Stand here alone

Feel alive again

And on the ancient stone we lie

We’re born alive among the fear

But I have grown

So the queen stood upon him

Screaming out her faith

But before she could die

The poor man closed his eyes and he said,

“Take me as you will,

If you may find a better life

Cause the pain will go on

And so will I.

So here I stand

I am not the one you know

But on a different light

Well, this place is home to me.”

But that was just a dream

8) The Funeral of Men

I found today

A sword and a shield

Borders and enemies,

Out of thin air, appeared

I found eternity

Found it with a grin

Found it with eyes

I crossed the desert wind

I’m right here.

Two men played a tune

On their phonograph

They have rules, they say

And if they listen good

They will get to heaven

Or move to whatever’s next

It might be the future

But how would they even know?

How would you?

How could you believe

Right now, this is it?

It makes no goddamn sense

Like a memory

And how some go

Deeper and deeper and deeper

The pressure - the breeze-

I guess that’s all there is now

I found the weight

I found today

The weight turns the wheel

It is my gift to you

Put it with the rest

Of time’s paraphernalia

That you learn quickly

Is you

9) Have You Felt It, Man?

I spoke with a friend

The Portland sun eluding

Through the rain, a gentle rumble

My words carry a memory

Of one night on Sebago:

My family surrounds a low flame

Their faces illuminated

Nothing but darkness behind them

I’m too high

It feels like some afterlife

Then, down by the fire

I became lucid

Everybody’s here for a while

Though I don’t think they will notice

And it feels…

All of my life had been leading there;

An overwhelming self-awareness

Then I turn to you:

“Have you felt it?

Have you felt it, man?”

Life has a funny way of turning

Something sinister,

Yet so profound fell upon us

Now they argue and divide

I’m reminded of my father

I remember the empty light

Behind the circle of people who love

An oasis perhaps.

But it’s something so wonderful,

The memory of the moment

And bittersweet to the touch

Down by the fire

I became lucid

Everybody’s here for a while

Though I don’t think they will notice

And it feels…

All of my life had been leading there;

An overwhelming self-awareness

Then I turn to you:

“Have you felt it?

Have you felt it, man?”

10) You’re Gonna Wish

You’re gonna wish that you live and let live

You’re gonna wish that you live and let live

You’re gonna wish that you live and let live

You’re gonna wish that you live and let live
